Rochester, Minnesota

Attorney Jessica J. Schimelpfenig was born and raised in Rochester, Minnesota.  After living in Scottsdale, Arizona, and New York, New York, she has been back living in Southeastern Minnesota since 2002.  She has been practicing law with Anderson Law Firm since 2005.

Jessica graduated from Hunter College, located on the upper east side of Manhattan, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Literature and Political Science.  Returning to Minnesota, she graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Law, Cum Laude, earning Dean’s List honors every semester.

She has a professional background in Human Resources Management and customer services.  As an attorney, Jessica’s practice is solely focused on family issues.  She represents clients in divorce proceedings, paternity and custody establishment cases, post-dissolution matters, child support proceedings, and adoptions.  Her goal is to assist clients by guiding them through the legal process and by helping them take the steps necessary to reach their desired outcome.  She is proficient in negotiating fair and reasonable settlements and often utilizes the various Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) methods available.  She is a strong and effective advocate for her clients in proceedings before the Court.

Jessica is a Rule 114 Qualified Neutral, acting as a mediator to assist parties with resolving their family law disputes.  She also serves on the panel of Social Early Neutral Evaluators for Olmsted and Dodge counties, evaluating family law cases for others who are trying to resolve their family law cases outside of the court process.

Jessica volunteers time and effort for Pro Bono activities in Southeastern Minnesota and has served as a board member for Legal Assistance of Olmsted County.  She also provides pro bono legal advice through the Olmsted Law Library Family Law Clinic.  Outside the law, Jessica is married and the mother of two young boys.  Being the daughter of local veterinarian, she has a strong love for animals, particularly her dog Lulu, who often spends time at the office.
